All of the physicians at Cornerstone Ear, Nose & Throat are Board Certified in otolaryngology and maintain staff privileges at Carolinas Healthcare System and Presbyterian Healthcare hospitals. Most importantly, they offer specialized ear, nose and throat care in a compassionate, comforting environment.

William A. McClelland, M.D., F.A.C.S.

William A. McClelland, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Clinical expertise and an unwavering commitment to each patient – these are the principles with which Dr. McClelland founded Cornerstone Ear, Nose & Throat. An honors graduate of Princeton University, Dr. McClelland earned a medical degree from the University of Virginia. He then completed five years of post-graduate training in both surgery and otolaryngology at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Dr. McClelland is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Medical Society.


Daron J. Smith, M.D.

Daron J. Smith, M.D.Dr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed an internship in general surgery and residency in otolaryngology at the University of Louisville. Since joining Cornerstone Ear, Nose & Throat in 1998, Dr. Smith has gained a reputation for providing comprehensive patient care with both proficiency and compassion. He is a member of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Medical Association.


Richard Gillespie, Jr., M.D.

Richard Gillespie, Jr., M.D.Dr. Gillespie earned his medical degree at the Duke University School of Medicine and completed his residency in otolaryngology and surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His special medical interests include otology and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders. He is a member of both the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Medical Association.


Nicholas Lukacs, D.O.

Nicholas Lukacs, D.O.Dr. Lukacs is a graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University, where he earned the Carnegie Medal for Academic Excellence. He completed his otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery residency at POH Regional Medical Center in Pontiac, Michigan. His training includes general adult and pediatric otolaryngology, head and neck oncology, with a particular interest in facial cosmetic surgery and disorders of the voice. Dr. Lukacs is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Osteopathic College of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery


Audiologists

Meghan Jensen, Au.D, CCC-A

Meghan Jensen, Au.D, CCC-ADr. Meghan Jensen is the director of audiology at CornerStone Ear, Nose & Throat PA. She adheres to high clinical standards and strives for excellence in every avenue of her practice. She has extensive experience and expertise in audiology diagnostics and hearing aid fittings for both pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Jensen takes pride in her compassionate listening skills and her resourcefulness with regard to developing the best treatment plan for each patient, understanding that every patient is unique. Dr. Jensen earned her doctorate in Audiology from Salus University after receiving her B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from West Virginia University and her M.A. in Audiology from the University of Maryland. She has earned a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), a North Carolina Audiology License, and a NC State Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Board license. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).


Vanessa Betancourt, Au.D, CCC-A

Vanessa Betancourt, Au.D, CCC-AFluent in Spanish and English, Dr. Betancourt earned her Doctorate of Audiology at A.T. Still University at Arizona School of Health and Sciences after she received her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) and a North Carolina Audiology license. Dr. Betancourt believes in giving personal attention to patients. By staying abreast of new technologies in the audiology industry and by providing thorough hearing and balance evaluations, her goal is to help each of her adult and pediatric patients improve his or her quality of life. Dr. Betancourt is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA). Dr. Betancourt joined CornerStone Ear, Nose & Throat, PA in October 2010, and is currently accepting new patients.
