Allergy drops (also known as sublingual immunotherapy or SLIT) are NOT covered by most health insurance carriers. As such, treatment with allergy drops is an out-of-pocket medical expense.
You will be tested in advance for a total of 38 different allergens. Depending on the results of your allergy testing and how many allergens you are allergic to, the monthly cost of your allergy drops will range from approximately $125.00 to a maximum of $150.00.
Prior to beginning sublingual immunotherapy, you must establish a payment plan with our practice. Arrangements for monthly billing can be made by contacting our billing office. Allergy drops will not be made and/or delivered until payment arrangements have been made.
During the build-up phase of sublingual immunotherapy, you will receive 1 escalation vial and 2 maintenance vials. The escalation vial will only be used for a period of 5 days. After you have completed 5 days of escalation, you will then advance to your maintenance vial. Dosing instructions will be provided.
During the maintenance phase of sublingual immunotherapy, the allergy vials will last approximately 8 weeks. (Payment arrangements made in advance.)
The cost of sublingual immunotherapy vials may potentially increase based on the cost of allergens and materials used to make the vials. We will make you aware of any changes in the cost of sublingual immunotherapy vials if any changes are anticipated in the future.
I have been notified by my physician at CornerStone Ear, Nose & Throat that my health insurance will not cover the services identified above. I assume full financial responsibility for payment of my sublingual immunotherapy treatment vials.
